Vintage 1940s Oregon Ducks/Webfoots game worn basketball jersey rates as one of the earliest known. Wilson size 40 tags remain intact in collar, green jersey has number 4 above Oregon on the front, and number also on back in white felt lettering. Shows great use, particularly to the numbers, where parts of both 4s appear to have shrunk or eroded as the original stitching outline can be seen around the remaining numbers; this is also present but to a much lesser degree in the letters. In 1944-45 - then known as the Webfoots, Oregon won the Pacific Coast Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional semi-final with a 30-15 overall record. In the mid-40s, a handshake agreement with Walt Disney allowed the program to use Donald Duck as its mascot, leading the the more common nickname used today.
