In his phenomenal early years, the intimidating presence of Iron Mike Tyson was felt before he ever stepped foot in the ring; a towel with a hole cut in it draped across his shoulders replaced a flashy ring robe and his plain black trunks foretold that this fierce Heavyweight meant serious business. This pair of fight worn Tyson trunks is very rare and comes from the collection of Steve Lott, who was Tyson's assistant manager. Everlast trunks show fine use and can be matched to video online of the 6/19/86 first-round TKO of Reggie Gross. Size Large tag in the waistband along with Dry Clean Only tag, Everlast label on front of waist band and USA patch on the left thigh; signed by Tyson also on the left thigh in somewhat faded silver marker. Already heralded as a rising superstar, Tyson's win was his 22nd straight in just 15 months as a professional boxer, and his second tilt at Madison Square Garden, all before his 20th birthday. Tyson was able to fight so frequently because he was seldom tested in those punishing early days, as Gross was his 12th opponent to fall victim in the first round. Comes with letter from this lot and his own identifier on the draw string has "Gross" written on a piece of athletic tape. Photo-matched to Getty 158063888.
