The 1885 Yale Bulldogs took the Independent League by storm in 1895. Led by John Hartwell, the Bulldogs finished the season with an outstanding record of 7-1 and recorded six shutouts and outscored its opponents by a combined total of 366 to 11; its only loss was against rival Princeton by a 6–5 score. Recently discovered in the Brown Brothers Archive this mounted sepia photo is 100% original and comes straight from the 1880's. Crystal clear image features the entire team in their Yale sweaters with a few of them in stocking caps and union suits. Stamped "Brown Brothers" on the verso along with hand written notations including "yale foot ball team." "1887" has also been written on the back but we believe that is incorrect and this is truly the 1885 team. Ungraded because PSA will NOT grade mounted photographs.
