Fascinating lot relating to actor Buddy Ebsen, best known for his roles in The Beverly Hilbillies and Barnaby Jones. As a young thespian, a 20-year old Ebsen made his Broadway debut in the play Whoopee, which starred Eddie Cantor. Shortly thereafter, Cantor organized a baseball team of cast members to play against those from other Broadway shows, and he purchased these spikes for the young Ebsen to use. His socks are still in each shoe and it includes a carry bag with, "Buddy's Baseball Shoes Bought by Eddie Canton To Play on Whoopee Team in Central Park 1928" written in black marker. Also included is an 8x10" photo framed to 11.25x13.75" of Buddy practicing in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts. Lengthy handwritten explanation on back paper details the history of the games. Spikes show great use; an all-around unique lot.
