All-around spectacular offering in this handwritten letter from February of 1951. Spanning three wonderfully-preserved pages and in Cobb's trademark green ink, the Georgia Peach gives advice on how friend and former teammate Harry Heilmann should go about getting elected to the Hall of Fame. As it turns out, Heilmann received the call from Cooperstown the following year, on his 12th ballot attempt. Page one is on Tyrus R. Cobb stationery and the pages remain almost immaculate except for the customary mailing folds. Dated 2/10/51 and signed "Ty," the writing and signature in green ink are 9/10. Included is the original mailing envelope in Cobb's hand, also all in green. Collectors of memorabilia from the Georgia Peach and baseball history fans of all stripes will find much to appreciate in this lot. Also includes a July 8, 1951 New York Times article discussing Cobb and Heilmann's relationship and the Hall of Fame. Comes with PSA LOA.
