Very early circa 1904 Christy Mathewson photograph is from his first few years in the big leagues. Spectacular 4x6.25" image sources from the same photo shoot that his famous T-206 photograph was taken; just a few shots before or after this one, the famous image was taken. Though PSA will not encapsulate mounted photos (this one is mounted on board), we are certain that it is original, from the original negative and printed at the time, circa 1903. One of the coolest Mathewson images we have seen, it has three tack holes at the edges and a neatly drawn black rectangle around the image for cropping purposes and verso has name in pencil along with stamps from the Brown Brothers, as this is part of their collection where other photos from this era were also found on mounts.
