Tremendous and very historic Type I panoramic photo may be the very first time the team was photographed as the New York Yankees as this was taken in Spring Training of 1913. Names on the back of this 8.75x4" classic in pencil, include Chance (his first year with the NY club), and Chase. In baseball's early years team nicknames were less formal and it was not unusual for teams to have multiple names. Before 1913 they were nicknamed the Highlanders as they played at Hilltop Park, but they dropped that name in favor of the Yankees moniker (which was also being used at the time) upon their move to the Polo Grounds that season.
