Original, from the camera, circa 1914 glass plate negative of Eddie Collins at bat against what we believe to be the New York Yankees/Highlanders. Measuring 7x5" with some minor image loss at the top edge, the negative shows Collins in action, awaiting a pitch at the plate. The Hall of Famer is depicted in Philadelphia A's uniform, where he started his career from 1906-1914, earning MVP honors in that '14 campaign before moving on to the Chicago White Sox. A few years later, he played in the notorious 1919 Black Sox World Series, though he was determined to have played fairly and was not involved in the scandal.
