Ancient red wool sweater with the chain-stitched winged wheel on the chest dates back to the late 1940’s or early 1950’s period. This coarse uniform is littered with at least twenty-five circular thick red and cream wool repairs. The number “8” appears on the back in tackle twill and the lack of sleeve numbers is correct for the period. The sweater was purchased in the Detroit area from the estate of a gentleman with ties to the old Olympia, who’s collection also included an older Red Wings uniform and an early Ted Lindsay stick (also offered in this auction).
