Original glass plate negative from a series of photos of player's grips compiled by famed photographer Charles Conlon with his notations at the top of the negative. This one, from 1927, measures 4x5" and depicts pitcher Carl Mays' grip for what is referred to only as "overhand," which speaks volumes about the pitching style of the era. In its original paper sleeve (much of the paper is lost), the glass plate remains nearly perfect. One of several in this auction from the Brown Brothers collection, these are difficult to find in any condition considering their obviously fragile nature.
