Candid shot of Frank Chance circa 1913-14, another Type I beauty from the immense Brown Brothers archive. Chance is seen during batting practice in this 4.25x7" shot, one foot on a wheel of the old-style batting cage, wearing his catcher's mitt. Photo is identified at the bottom and in pencil on back along with Brown Brothers stamp. Known best as an infielder in the Tinker to Evers to Chance poem of 1910, the versatile Chance is seen in Yankees uniform as he played the final two years of his career in the Bronx after spending his first 15 with the Chicago Cubs. PSA Type I encapsulated.
