1) 1967 “Department of Labor, Workmen's Compensation Board” notice names “Athletic Enterprises, Inc.” (the business entity which owned the Kentucky Colonels) and “Kentucky Colonels professional basketball team.” Dated “September 29, 1967 (before the start of the inaugural ABA season) and signed “Athletic Enterprises, Inc.”; 2) 1967-74 Colonels correspondence (thirty-nine pages) regarding travel, lodging, equipment, practice and game uniforms, general expenses, and speaking engagements. 3-7) Colonels medical related correspondence includes 1970 letter regarding remuneration for team doctor ($100 per month and four season tickets), 1972 Louie Dampier injury report (“Tripper over cheerleader”), 1973 Wendell Ladner injury report (“Fell over water cooler while diving after loose ball” - this event required sixty stitches), 1973 physician's itemized bill (for Gilmore, Dampier, Ladner, Mount, etc.), and 1973 physician's itemized bill (for Gilmore and Ladner); 8-13) Colonels advertising contracts for KFC (1971-72), Coca-Cola (1971-72), Coca-Cola (1972-73), City of Louisville (1972-73), American Airlines (1974-75), and blank contract (1975-76); 14-16) Circa 1972 Issel “Our New Address” announcement card (4.5x6.25”), team-issued photo (7x5”), and Sport magazine subscription mailer (4.25x5.75”) picturing him; 17) 1973 Colonels trainer's personal diary with listings for Issel, Gilmore, Dampier, Ladner, etc; 18) “1973-74 Kentucky Colonels Travel Guide” (two); 19) “1974-75 Kentucky Colonels Pre-Season Itinerary” (championship season); 20) 1974-75 Birdwatchers Society membership kit includes whistle, photo button, membership card, photo (5x7”), Pepsi schedule, WHAS schedule, official rules, and envelope; 21) 1975 The Sporting News letter to Colonels owner John Y. Brown requesting his assistance in getting the players to fill out ballots for the ABA All-Star Game plus eight blank ballots; 22) Circa 1975 Colonels check stubs (four); 23) 1975 Gilmore team-issued photo (7x5”); 24-27) Colonels airline ticket receipts includes 1975 (for championship team starting five: Gilmore, Issel, Dampier, McLain, Jones). 1975 (two, for trainer), and 1976 (for entire team including Gilmore, Dampier, Lucas, coach Albeck, and coach Brown); and 28-30) Colonels letterhead includes blue/white (twenty-four sheets, 10.5x7.25”), “1974-75 ABA Champion “(11x8.25”), and “From the desk of Lloyd Gardner, Trainer” (8x5.5”). Obtained directly from the former trainer of the Kentucky Colonels.
