In a hugely successful television commercial by Miller Beer, which debuted in 1977 and ran for many years, the NFL HOFer explains why he drinks Miller Lite and finishes by ripping off the top of the metal can and saying, “I also love the easy opening cans.” Playing off that campaign, this iconic Miller Beer advertising sign, which hung in a New York City subway car in 1983, pictures a Miller Light beer can ripped in two with “Bubba Smith Was Here” in white letters against a black background. “1983 Miller Brewing Co.” at bottom.
