This cardboard advertising display is probably one of the rarest, most striking and unique Marilyn Monroe advertising pieces in existence. It features an iconic photo by Richard Avedon that has Marilyn in a snug black dress as a silhouette in relief (her form pops out as a three dimensional image) against a hot pink background. For Billy Wilder's masterpiece, Some Like it Hot, Marilyn "Chante Diques Excusivitie" promotes Pathe Marconi and "His Mater's Voice in French." This vinyl EP record is in French for the French market with the image on the EP signed by Richard Avedon. France is a relatively small market compared to the rest of the world, thus, very few displays would have been produced and this one is the only one known to exist. From the EP soundtrack, famous scene where Marilyn plays the ukulele even though everyone knows she's been hired for form over function. This figural die-cut sign with an easel back is high grade NRMT and measures 24x17". This superb copy was found in the vaults of the printer and it was distributed by PUBLICIS FRANCE. Also included is the original EP "Marilyn Monroe Chante" in unused NRMT-MT condition.
