This unique lot is most probably from the original Christy Walsh collection, and is an unusual pairing of a silver plaque with the original art by Paul Frehm, used to create it. Frehm worked for King Features Syndicate and is most known for drawing the cartoon "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" A heavy cast iron plaque with a silver wash, it was meant to be put on a building or edifice. The political cartoon is excellent has the characteristics that make it desirable; great subject matter and superior execution. In the pen and ink drawing (and the plaque) Uncle Sam is anointing a symbol of American Football represented by a handsome, fresh faced football player. The drawing measures 12.5x18" and the plaque is 6x7". The plaque has some discoloration, but is overall EX and drawing EX-MT condition.
