The Black Sox scandal is approaching an infamous 100-year anniversary in three years, and anything associated with that baseball black eye still piques curiosity. That's certainly true with this one-page letter written in 8/10 pencil that was sent to fan and game organizer "Richard" Standaert. There is great content here in regard to organizing a barnstorming game with the Black Sox players: "Cicotte will be in here Friday, Felsch was here today and was satisfied with the terms and etc. offered him. Jackson is now waiting to pick up his transportation down South." It is signed "C.A. 'Swede' Risberg" and features a great postscript that reads: "Webb is all set, advance him twenty so he could buy shoes + glove." Risberg is a tough signature and it is rarely if ever seen in this handwritten letter format with such terrific historic content. The letter displays typical mailing folds on "W.C. Meek Amusement Productions" letterhead.
