He was one of the "Eight Men Out" for his participation in the 1919 Black Sox scandal. Eddie Cicotte wrote this two-page letter to "Stanny" - avid baseball fan and local games organizer Richard Standaert - and it has some wonderful content. The pitcher writes of a razor strap that was sent and "I haven't heard from Swede lately but I guess they are busy booking games." He also writes: "I have been working out the last few days but I can't get any catcher." The letter is written in 8/10 pencil, signed "E. Cicotte," initialed "E.V.C" and dated "4-9-22." It has typical mailing folds, otherwise it is in EX condition. Included in the lot are two telegrams relating to a barnstorming game that Standaert had organized, as well as several news clippings regarding the Black Sox and Eddie Cicotte's barnstorming along with other Chicago team members.
