The first World Series at Yankee Stadium was historic, and so is this baseball, that includes the signatures of Bomber greats Babe Ruth, John McGraw and Miller Huggins, whose autograph is exceedingly rare. However, the toughest signature here belongs to 1919 Reds manager Pat Moran, who died in 1929. The ball mounted on wood base was a blotter gift that was given out during an event organized by Ruth's agent, Christy Walsh. The Official American League ball, whose president's name is obscured, is signed in black fountain ink and includes the name Nick Altrock, and the McGraw signature is on the sweet spot. The McGraw, Huggins and Moran autographs are very bold and among the finest examples for each that you will come across. Minus a couple of imperfections, the three examples grade 9/10. The Altrock and Ruth signatures are each affected by numerous surface marks and grade 6 and 4, respectively. Each of the signers on this ball was a celebrity columnist for the Christy Walsh Syndicate, and presentational baseballs such as this were commonly handed out to syndicate representatives. This one happens to have been given to "WM. B. CRAIG."
