No one could have imagined the elite status the Breeders' Cup would reach when it was first run in 1984. It is now unquestionably the World Championship event, unrivaled by any series anywhere in the sport, and the Breeders' Cup Classic is the defining race of the Breeders' Cup - the Champion race of Champion races. This remarkable trophy is from the 2nd running of the Breeders' Classic in 1985 when Jorge Velasquez atop Proud Truth ran down Gate Dancer at the wire to become the first jockey in the event's history to win two Breeders' Cup races. Consisting of an iron horse on a green marble base, this sturdy trophy stands 6.5" tall and reads, "Proud Truth Winner Second Breeders Cup Classic Aqueduct November 2, 1985 Jockey Jorge Velasquez." Comes with LOA from Jorge Velasquez.
