Offered is a Sept. 2, 1961, Roger Maris home runs #52 & #53 ticket stub from his record-breaking season when Maris hit 61 home runs. In a 7-2 New York Yankees win over the visiting Detroit Tigers before 50,261 at Yankee Stadium I, Maris drew to only eight home runs away from the magical 61 blasts. Maris hit season homer #52 in the bottom of the 6th inning against Tigers starter Frank Lary with two outs, the score tied 2-2 and the bases empty. Maris hit Lary's pitch into the right field stands to give the Bronx Bombers a 3-2 lead. Maris homered again in the bottom of the 8th inning with one out and Tony Kubek on base off reliever Hank Aguirre, again a blast to the right field stands.

On the final day of the '61 season, at Yankee Stadium I, Maris hit a home run in the 4th inning off of Boston's Tracy Stallard, again into the right field seats, to give Maris number 61.

The offered ticket stub measures 1.5x2.7". It reads, in part, "NEW YORK YANKEES/YANKEE STADIUM/GAME NO. 67/SERIES C/RAIN CHECK/GRANDSTAND ADMISSION/$1.30." The ticket stub has been encapsulated and PSA graded as "STUB/VG-EX 4."
