St. Louis Browns game-worn road cap attributed to infielder Eddie Pellagrini, circa 1948. The gray wool cap, with brown brim, features the St. Louis Browns' "STL" logo embroidered in orange on the front. A "Tim McAuliffe" label appears on the interior leather headband. The size, "6 7/8," is written on the headband in blue ink to the right of the manufacturer's label and "Pell #4" is written in blue ink on the front of the headband. An additional blue-ink notation, reading "Eddie Pellagrini 1948" is written on the underside of the headband, near the back. The cap displays moderate-to-heavy wear, including numerous tears to the headband. This cap style was worn by the Browns between the years 1946 and 1949, but Pellagrini played with the Browns only during the 1948 and 1949 seasons, thereby more narrowly dating it to that two-year span. This is a scarce St. Louis Browns "style" cap dating to the club's final years in St. Louis (the Browns moved to Baltimore in 1954).
