Vintage Type II photo of Babe Ruth, taken by noted baseball photographer Charles Conlon, used in the production of Ruth’s 1933 Goudey card #181. A Brown Brothers credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with a few handwritten production numbers. Although Conlon’s credit stamp does not appear on the photo, we previously sold the original glass plate negative of this image, which was undoubtedly produced by Conlon. The shot was taken by Conlon in 1929, but it wasn’t until four years later that it became what is now one of Ruth’s most iconic card images. This is one of several Type II examples we have seen of this photo, but it must be noted that NO Type I example has ever surfaced. As such, it represents the only option for both card and photo collectors wishing to acquire one of Conlon’s most significant Ruth photos. The photo (8x10”) is off center with regard to its white borders and displays light creasing to the corner and border areas. In Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type II Authentic.
