After Wilt retired from the Lakers in 1973, the San Diego Conquistadors of the ABA signed The Big Dipper as a player/head coach for the 1973-74 season. After playing in four exhibition games for the Q's, a court injunction barred him from continuing as a player so he served only in the capacity as head coach. Wilt was known to dominate his players on the court in practice and coach barefoot during regular season games. After just one season with the Q's, Wilt retired from pro basketball for good. 1) Rare 1973 promo photograph (NRMT) of Wilt wearing his San Diego jersey and holding an ABA ball. The left side has a facsimile signature and the right side is signed in vintage 8.5/10 black felt tip. 2) 1974 typed letter on team letterhead “from the desk of Alex Groza, Vice President and General Manager” referencing the previous promo photo (NRMT). 3) 1973-74 full color “Wilt Chamberlain...Spalding” advertising sign picturing Wilt in his San Diego warm-ups (NRMT).
