Yes, we are putting this is the baseball category because of the similar look to 19th century baseball uniforms.
Three fine pieces emanate from the Hawley Fire Department of Hawley, Pennsylvania, right around the turn of the century if not earlier. 1) Special red wool flannel "bib" was once buttoned to a shirt front. Interestingly, has the felt letters F and D in white wool flannel sewn on which obviously stands for "Fire Department". About 11x14". Unmistakenly similar to baseball shirts of the 1870s-80s. 2) Leather belt difficult to separate from baseball belts of the 19th century. Wide outer belt has numeral "1" as well as "H A W L E Y" in cast metal, plus decorative edge and stitching. Inner belt is leather with buckle. Length is 42". 3) Visored cap, in wool with metallic braid, two "F.D." buttons. Sports cast metal laurel-wreath insignia bearing number "1" for department company. Size 7.5" and attractive markings inside, "Henderson & Co., Phila., "Band & Military Clothiers." Would look amazing along baseball artifacts of the period.
