This perfect signature of Jim Thorpe was neatly removed from a page of this rare program, giving it new life and virtual displayability. The program is from the January 21, 1952, Baltimore Bullets basketball game against the New York Knicks. On the white section of the scorecard within, it was signed in person at the game with a deep blue ink “Jim Thorpe.” Signed in the last year or so of his life, Thorpe was being rediscovered (like the great Babe Ruth a few years before) when it was nearly too late. Recently named as the “Greatest Athlete of the Half Century” (AP) and his wife admitting to being broke and taken advantage of by people over his life, Thorpe was finally getting some appreciation for a contribution that defies words. Thorpe signature slabbed authentic by PSA.
