This great cardboard advertisement bills a little-known series that was held at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field. From 1946-50, the best amateur players from around the US as well as Cuba and Canada were invited to play against the best amateurs from the New York area. This ad promotes the second series, held from August 15-17, 1947. Billed as "Brooklyn Against the World," this 11x14" rarity is in EX condition, with one tear at the top border but fully intact. Contemporary newspaper reports indicated that Dazzy Vance was to manage the Brooklyn Eagles' All-Stars, with Pepper Martin piloting the World team. Many future big leaguers participated in these exhibitions.
