Occupational mugs were the rage from latter part of the 19th century until the home safety razor was introduced circa 1920. Each mug was kept at the barber shop, hand-painted in almost a folk art style, of each person’s occupation along with the owner's name. The more diverse and important the clientele, the better for the barber's business and image. This is an unusual one as it pictures a horse racing scene, accented in beautiful gold gilt with the most interesting of names, "Minder Pamartsdale". Very minor wear in the gold, the cup is pristine white with full color imagery of a horse racing scene. Measures 4" tall and condition is EX-MT.
