Originally obtained from the family of Monterrey's player/manager and star, Lazaro Salazar, this is a rare autograph as Salazar passed away in 1957 at the tender age of 45. One of the true greats of the Negro Leagues, he is a member of THREE Hall's of Fame: Cuba, Mexico, & Venezuela. This extremely rare and unusual photographic panorama features the mighty Monterrey Sultanes, 1949 Champions of the Mexican League, along with an impressive elongated view of the city of Monterrey, Mexico. Stunning cameos of individual players have names notated in vintage ink by Lazaro Salazar himself: Marcols, Guillermo Nunez, Leonei Aidama, Jose Villegas, Silverio Rodriguez, Carlios Villareal, F. Danza, Salvador Rodriguez, Felipe Hernandez, Rodolfo Alvarado, Felipe Montemayor, Epitacio "La Mala" Torres, Pablo Garcia, Daniel Rios, Luis St. Clair, L. Sansirena and "Mascots." He has signed under his photograph and added a huge bold inscription cementing the provenance (translated): "To my brothers and nephews with all my love, from Lazaro October 8/49." Nice condition with only some minor foxing and excellent contrast, measuring 48x8".
