They were a traveling team comprised solely of American Indians, and they played in the NFL from 1922 to 1923. The Oorang Indians of LaRue, Ohio featured a player-coach by the name of Jim Thorpe, who was in his mid-30s at the time and near the end of his storied playing career. This lot includes 1922 tickets from the Indians with "James F. Thorpe coach" printed on one, and "Joe Little Twig" on the other. There are also two Oorang Indians stationery letterheads with "James F. Thorpe Coach" printed on the top left. Fascinating artifacts from one of the premier athletes of the 20th Century.
