From the turn of the century this impressive, heavy brass spittoon contains a detailed image of a bulldog embossed with "Georgia Bull Dog" for the University of Georgia Football Team on both sides. Made of heavy duty brass, this is from close to the program's inaugural season of 1892. Banks, barber shops, business offices, court rooms, and saloons provided spittoons for tobacco users from the 1890s thru 1920s; this was probably from a bar or maybe a fraternity house and is the only sports spittoon we have ever seen. Exceptional quality, it has some pitting and several dings but overall, presentation is quite nice. Expressive of the "wild south" early in the history of the game, it measures 10" high and the diameter is 9.25" at the top.
