This is an exceptional Teddy Roosevelt with Kenesaw Mountain Landis vintage and original candid photograph, merging politics and baseball in the earliest days of the 20th Century. This beautiful framed photograph measures 13.5x16.5" and is a Type I, dating from 1905, when Roosevelt appointed Landis a federal judge. The appointment was prodigious as Landis ultimately came to national prominence when he fined Standard Oil, and was forever seen as a judge determined to protect the populous from big business. He was the first Commissioner of Baseball, and remembered for his handling of the Black Sox scandal, in which he refused to back down and expelled eight members of the Chicago White Sox, refusing them reinstatement and instilling faith back into the game. In a gold-gilted frame and matted with a beautiful tapestry finish, this classic photo is in NRMT condition.
