Though other teams have since claimed the crown, the 1927 University of Illinois football team was named National Champions, compiling a 7-0-1 record while outscoring their opponents 152-24. This genuine gold pendant in the shape of a football (complete with laces) was presented to team member W. McClure in much the same fashion as rings are distributed today. The jewelry is distinguished by a blue enamel "I" with "1927 Champions" engraved on one side. On the other side is "W. McClure, Kicker Guard." It is in EX condition.
