It is incredible that this has survived and is in this state. A strop of 1889 individual tickets, numbered 1-10, were for the Inaugural Meeting of Morris Park Race Track (New York Jockey Club) in the Bronx, New York. At the time it opened, Morris Park was acclaimed by the NY Times as the most modern and magnificent race track in the world. Opening on August 20, 1889, the ten-day meet ended on August 31, and all ten tickets are here and unmolested. All the top jockeys competed and some of the famous horses ran: Hanover, Firenzi, Kingston (won four at meet) and Tenny (won three races at meet). Extremely rare and NRMT ticket strip is unique in this attached format); we have never even SEEN another single ticket for this inaugural meeting, let alone a complete strip.
