Andy Warhol [born Warhola] in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1928, was an American visual artist, and film director and producer, who was in the forefront of the American Pop Art movement of the 1960s. Presented is a hand-drawn Campbell's Soup can sketch by Warhol. Warhol graduated from Carnegie Mellon and moved to New York City, becoming a commercial artist. His most famous works involved paintings of 32 Campbell Soup cans in 1962. For years he added to the original 32 paintings by adding silk screenings of more Campbell's Soup cans. The original 32 Campbell's Soup can [paintings each measured 20" in height by 16" in width. Warhol's frequent subjects included things he liked: Campbell's Soup, money [dollar bills], Coca-Cola, and movie stars - Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor.
