Sadaharu Oh is the all-time professional baseball home run hitter, with 868 blasts. Offered is a 1962 Sadaharu Oh handwritten double-sided "Nengajo" traditional New Year's Greeting Postcard, written in December 1961.

Oh was born in 1940 in Japan, to a Japanese mother and a Chinese father. As a youth, he was a successful pitcher, but as a professional he played mostly first base. He batted left-handed, and he was known for his high kick with his right leg while batting. Oh played his entire career (1959-80) with the Yomiuri Giants. He was a 15-time Central League home run champion, a 5-time Central League batting champion, and an 18-time Central League All-Star. He batted a lifetime .301 with 2,786 hits. With Oh in the lineup, the Yomiuri Giants won nine championships in a row (1965-73), and 11 overall. Oh was a Central League MVP nine times. Later in his career, he became a manager.

The offered signed greeting postcard measures 3.5x5.5". Using blue ink from a steel-tip fountain pen, Sadaharu Oh inscribed and signed the card. The inscription, written in Japanese, translates: "Happy New Year! I apologize for not being in touch last year. I look forward to working with you again this year." The card was written to a Japanese author. The card exhibits some darkening because of the passage of time. There are a few very light stains. Overall, the postcard is in very good condition. The postcard has been encapsulated and comes with a PSA/DNA Certification for the signature (Cert. Number: 85319055), and also a JSA LOA for the signature and inscription (Cert. Number: YY68973).
