Brooklyn Dodgers home jersey worn by journeyman pitcher Bud Podbielan in 1951. The white flannel jersey is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number "40" on the left breast and reverse. All front letters and reverse numerals are applied in blue felt. All front numerals are applied in red felt. Both a "Spalding Bros." label and adjacent "42" size tag appear in the collar. Podbielan's name, the year, and the set number ("C Podbielan 1951-2") are chain-stitched in blue on the left front tail. A wash tag is located on the interior left front tail. The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate wear, including a few tiny stains and holes, and minor unraveling to the stitching on the left front tail. Clarence "Bud" Podbielan played four seasons with the Dodgers, beginning in 1949. Used mainly in relief, he appeared in 27 games in 1951, finishing the year with a 2-2 record and 3.50 ERA. He retired after the 1959 season with a 25-42 lifetime record and a 4.49 ERA.
