A Miami Dolphins jersey worn by Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, circa 1983. The front tail tag shows that the white number 13 jersey was made by Russell Athletic and is a size XL. The garment shows signs of excellent wear with sweat stains, dirt spots, and fraying along the letters. The numbers have been ironed on, but the nameplate features stitched lettering. Marino has signed the jersey on the reverse side in black marker. The jersey was likely worn during the Dolphins 11/6/83 game against the San Francisco 49ers (Getty 480585096). In that contest, Marino completed 15 of 29 passes for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 20-17 Miami win. The lot will also include Letters of Authenticity from both PSA/DNA and Grey Flannel Auctions. Marino was the 27th pick of the 1983 Draft, the sixth quarterback taken, but he soon became one of the biggest stars of the game. Upon his retirement in 2000, Marino held records for passes completed, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. Each of those records has subsequently been broken. A nine-time Pro Bowler, Marino was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005.
