More than just a lawyer, William Shea is widely known as the founder of the Continental League, which was instrumental in bringing National League baseball back to New York City with the New York Mets, and for being the namesake of the stadium where that team played for 45 years. From the estate of William Shea, this table lighter is most definitely a unique piece of baseball memorabilia. Heavy table lighter is stamped on the bottom as weighted sterling silver and features the all-important “Tiffany & Co." makers mark. More than just a baseball memento, this is also a work by one of the most noted jewelry manufacturers in the world. Mets logo with New York skyline is finely engraved on one side and "CHRISTMAS 1964" engraved on the reverse. Obviously given to William Shea as a gift, 1964 was also the year Shea Stadium was opened making this even more special; especially to the man that brought National League baseball back to New York. EX-MT condition.
