The Homestead Grays are synonymous with winning, having won the Negro League World Series three times (1943, 1944, 1948) and produced some of the greatest baseball players to ever take the field including Cool Papa Bell, Josh Gibson, Judy Johnson, Oscar Charleston, and Cum Posey. Believed to be from the late 1920s this early Negro League uniform is a true piece of history. Made by the The Draper-Maynard Manufacturers, this high quality gray flannel jersey simply reads "GRAYS" across the front and features bound sleeves, both in bright red. In all-original condition, this amazing time capsule is unaltered and comes from a time when the Grays didn't assign numbers to the players; just imagine who could have worn this. Only some slight bleeding from the red felt noticed. This extremely well preserved example was first seen in Western Pennsylvania (where the Grays played) when its caretaker took it to a dealer to try and figure out its value. 30 years later, the owner's family decided it was time to sell and let it go after owning it for nearly three quarters of a century. Extremely scarce and by far the earliest Negro League jersey we've ever handled, we almost hate to let this one go.
