From the early days of the national pastime (likely the 1870s) comes this gold Baseball Medal that is distinguished by a fancy "N" in the middle. There are bat, ball and suitcase charms attached and original pin on the back, the bat is engraved "N.B.C" on the front and "H.P" on the back, with N.B.C. standing for Nationals Baseball Club. In addition, the recipient's initials adorn the bat. The original Nationals were Washington's first important baseball club, representing the National Association.
