Wide receiver and punt returner Jim Smith won two Super Bowls in six years with the Steelers and wore this white road jersey during the 1979 championship season. The all-original top features the number 88 sewn on the front, back and shoulders in black tackle twill, with black and gold stripes on the sleeves and "SMITH" sewn in gold lettering on a white nameplate on the back. A Medalist Sand-Knit tag can be found on the tail, denoting the jersey's size as 46, with an adjacent "79" tag representing the year it was issued. Comes directly from the Steelers and shows moderate use, including some staining from dirt on the field and fraying to the edges of the numbers. Smith was the primary backup to Hall of Fame receivers Lynn Swann and John Stallworth, catching 25 touchdowns during his Pittsburgh career.

Never before has a major sports franchise opened its team archives going back nearly a century. Let alone a franchise as historic as the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Founded in 1933 by Art Rooney Sr., the Rooney Family imprint remains to this day.  From the glory of the Steel Curtain to an NFL-best six Lombardi trophies, the Pittsburgh Steelers name defines excellence and winning.  We present the latest offering of “The Pittsburgh Steelers Archive of Exceptional Jerseys.” For decades, the Pittsburgh Steelers have guarded and saved their own equipment, thereby creating a huge void in the sports marketplace.  As a result, the Pittsburgh Steelers have become the crème de la crème. The rarest and most sought after game equipment of any National Football League team.  We were not there in 1922 when they first opened King Tut’s Tomb or discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls.  But now, perhaps we all know a bit about how that felt. All items will come with a letter of authenticity from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Lelands.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Steelers Archives Jerseys will be donated to the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research.
