Fantastic lot of Superman Novelty cards, made up of every known card from this extraordinary early Superman set. Each card measures 2.38x2.88", PSA-graded, and quite rare - and six (6) are still attached to the candy box end flap, making them rarer still (think 1959 Bazooka baseball). All show perforated side margins from being removed, as intended, from candy boxes. Front box panels feature a classic Superman-breaking-chains image, with the reverse stating, "Valuable Superman Premium Coupon" and a list of items that could be obtained by sending in the coupons. The cards themselves show Superman action scenes, with a paragraph or two describing the action on the reverse. The cards themselves are in overall beautiful condition, with PSA grades as follows: #1 Authentic, #2 VG-EX+ 4.5, #3 GD 2, #4 VG+ 3.5, #5 Authentic, #6 GD+ 2.5 (with end flap), #7 Authentic (with end flap), #8 Authentic, #9 Authentic, #10 EX-MT 6, #11 VG-EX 4 (with end flap), #12 Authentic, #13 VG-EX 4 (with end flap), #14 Authentic, #15 NM 7, #16 Authentic, #17 VG 3 (with end flap), #18 VG-EX+ 4.5, #19 Authentic, #20 Authentic, #21 VG-EX 4, #22 VG 3 (with end flap), #23 Authentic, #24 FR 1.5, #28 VG+ 3.5, #31 GD 2, #32 Authentic and #34 (2; Authentic, FR 1.5). While the backs claim there are 48 cards in the set, to the best of our knowledge the numbers listed above represent the only numbers ever found. Card numbers above 24 are thought to be from a second series and extremely difficult to find (5 of them are here). Note that many of these cards are either the highest graded examples or the only ones known.
