Extremely rare 1880's Stevengraph handwoven silk bookmark "The First Innings". It is the only known variant and is in rare, original matte. Bookmark is an early baseball homage by British master Thomas Stevens known for his finely detailed silk ribbons of kings and queens of Europe, boxers like John L. Sullivan, and baseball. Silk measures 7 1/2" by 4 1/4". This example is the only one we know of using this unique matte design. The piece exhibits some wear to matte and slight fading to innings.
