In 1911, British cigarette maker W.D. and H.O. Wills created this set of 36 unnumbered cards with two different backs. The issue is very similar to American N and T lithographic cards which is likely intentional since the cards were inserts in export packaging. This lot includes a complete set of the Star in Circle (green) backs with 52 extra and a near set of the Scissors (30 different) with 13 extras. Highlights include Jack Johnson, Jim Jeffries (4), Joe Jeannette (3), Peter Jackson, Joe Gans, Sam Langford (5), and a number of other HOFers. Condition ranges from poor to excellent. A great opportunity to piece together 2 or three additional sets with relatively little work.
