Nice group of 6 non-sport sets from the early to mid 1900’s: 1) 1938 Arm & Hammer ‘Useful Birds of America’ collection of 16, featuring a complete set of 15 from series 10 (all NM or better!) and 1 card from series 9 (GD). 2) 1938-1940 Wings Cigarettes near-complete collection of T87 ‘Modern American Airplanes’. The overall set is divided into four distinct series, 3 of which are presented here: - Series A, near-complete set of 44/50. Missing only #’s 6, 16, 40, 43 for completion. Condition is 33% 10% NM, 65% EX to EX-MT, 15% VG to VG-EX, and 10% lesser. A few cards exhibit lite glue/tape residue on the corners but otherwise present well. - Series B, near-complete set of 47/50. Missing only #’s 1, 10, 46 for completion. Condition is 30% NM or better, 55% EX to EX-MT, and 10% VG to VG-EX and 5% lesser. - Series C near-complete set of 43/50. Missing only #’s 7, 9, 19, 28, 33, 37 for completion. Condition is 30% NM or better, 50% EX to EX-MT, 15% VG to VG-EX and 5% lesser. 3) 1939 Gum Inc. ‘War News Pictures’ near-complete set of 104/108. Missing only #’s 24, 29, 34 and 36 for completion. Cards are 10% EX-MT to NM, 50% EX to EX-MT, and 30% VG to VG-EX and 10% lesser. 4) 1940 Gum Inc. ‘Lone Ranger’: 18 cards, including card #’s 1-10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 22 and 23. 13 cards inc. #1 VG-EX to EX, 5 cards slightly lesser; 5) 1941 Gum Inc. ‘Uncle Sam’ partial set of 73/96. Cards are 10% EX-MT to NM, 50% EX to EX-MT, and 30% VG to VG-EX and 10% lesser. 6) 1942 Gum Inc. ‘War Gum’ (R164), group of 8 (7 different); cards are VG-EX to EX. Also included are 2 mailer packs of war photos, one of Pacific theater operations and the second of US Army warplanes. Nice grouping of primarily military-related card issues from the early to mid 1900’s! Total of 350+ cards, plus 2 packs of photo cards.
