In 1888, Allen & Ginter produced a "World's Champions" baseball set consisting of 10 players. Though small, the set included six (6) Hall of Famers (Anson, Clarkson, Comiskey, Keefe, Kelly, and Ward). Here we have a partial set of six that includes four (4) of those Hall of Famers. Ward (GD-VG, stain, light crease); Keefe (EX); Comiskey (VG-EX, light stain, back o/c) and Anson (VG-EX, light stain, front o/c), plus two (2) other cards: Mulvey (EX) and Glasscock (VG-EX). NOTE that all six cards have a small, light stamp on the reverse that minimally detracts from the clarity of the writing. Allen & Ginter is widely recognized as one of the most classic of all pre-1900 issues, and this is a very attractive partial set from their iconic baseball player subset.
