S.F. Hess, a Rochester, NY company, issued an indeterminate number (new cards surface periodically) of rare blank-backed photographic cards of boxers and other celebrities. The set is so tough that the checklist must be considered incomplete. Needless to say, but we will say it anyway, Sullivan is the key card in the issue, and this one is a beauty. While the technical grade of vg-ex is spot-on, the card has an especially nice, crisp image, an essential attribute of any albumen image from the 19th century.
