Incredible jersey. Belonged to Frank Brimsek, star goalie for the Boston Bruins. Brimsek was an American, from Eveleth, Minnesota. A member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Brimsek won two Calder Memorial Trophies, two Vezina Trophies, and was a NHL All-Star eight times. His Boston Bruins teams won Stanley Cups in 1939 and 1941. When he retired after the 1949-50 season, he held the record for American goaltenders for both for both wins and shutouts, records that would stand for 54 and 61 years respectively. Brimsek played nine of his 10 NHL seasons with Boston, finishing his career with the Chicago Black Hawks. He missed three seasons as a member of the United States Coast Guard during World War II, with service in the South Pacific. All original with insane use and amount of team repairs. Brimsek must have blocked a lot of shots with his chest, arms, and back and taking many slashes from sticks and cuts from skates because this jersey exhibits an amazing 196 repairs. Wool jersey has Horace Partridge Co. size 44 tag inside tail. This was likely used for several seasons, as the Bruins were known to reuse the jerseys during the early 1940s and the war years. May have been used by the team even after Brimsek went off to serve in the military. All original numbering and lettering-"1" on the front and back and a "B" on both sleeves.
