"Championships are won by players who do things which appear to be insignificant but which make the difference between winning and losing at the highest level." - Bill Russell. A key component on the Boston Celtics' first two title teams, Lou Tsioropoulos was a very popular and powerfully-built forward who specialized in defense, while performing all the little things on a basketball court which are required for winning championships. This beautifully crafted Sterling silver cigarette box was presented to Tsioropoulos for his yeoman contributions to the team after the 1957-58 season in which Boston once again made it to the NBA Finals. "Lou Tsioropoulos" is stamped at the center of the lid, surrounded by eleven engraved Celtics' signatures, including Hall of Famers Russell, Cousy, Sharman, Jones, Heinson, and Ramsey. Meanwhile, the bottom is stamped, "Sterling by Poole 82 Weighted." It should be stressed that the box exhibits extremely high quality materials and workmanship including a fine silver exterior, dual interior compartments with mahogany wood lining, and fabulous engraving. Originally obtained from Tsioropoulos, the piece measures to 3.25x7.5x1.75", weighs 588 grams, and is in overall EX condition.
