REAL PROOF block of $10.50 tickets to the 1961 World Series, played between the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds, at Yankee Stadium. These proof tickets were a step in the process of printing the actual tickets and as such the tickets do not contain section, box, and seat numbers, and the coloration of the area on which the section, box, and seat numbers would have been printed is gray rather than maize in the actual tickets. 1) GAME 1: Whitey Ford shut-out the Reds 2-0 on two hits. Elston Howard and Moose Skowron homered for the Yankees in a game played at Yankee Stadium before 62,397. 2) GAME 2: Reds pitcher Joey Jay defeated the Yankees 6-2 before 63,083 at Yankee Stadium as the Reds Gordy Coleman and the Yanks Yogi Berra each hit two-run blasts. 3) GAME 3: The Yanks prevailed 3-2 in Cincinnati as Luis Arroyo won in relief and Roger Maris and Johnny Blanchard homered for the New Yorkers. 4) GAME 4: In Cincinnati, Whitey Ford took the win and moved past Babe Ruth to increase the all-time record for consecutive scoreless innings in the World Series to 32 innings. 5) GAME 5: The Yankees wrapped up the Series in Cincinnati, defeating the Reds 13-5 as Bud Daley took the win, and Blanchard and Hector Lopez homered for the Bronx Bombers. Thus the Yanks clinched the Series 4-games-to-1, and the prospective 6th and 7th games in New York were never played. 1961 was the fantastic season of home run drama as Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle both chased Babe Ruth season record of 60, with Mantle ending at 54 and Maris hitting his 61st on the regular season's last day.
